Colour & balayage, by consultation.

Colour is the one service we refuse to quote blind. Hair that has been coloured before, home-boxed, sun-lifted or previously lightened behaves differently from virgin hair, and the honest answer to 'how much and how long' only exists after someone has looked at your lengths in daylight. So colour at Icon starts with a consultation, free, no obligation, about fifteen minutes.

Balayage is the technique we're asked for most: colour painted freehand through the mid-lengths and ends so the grow-out stays soft and the maintenance stays reasonable. Done well it reads as light that has landed naturally in your hair rather than as a stripe of highlights, and it usually needs refreshing every three to four months instead of every six weeks.

Our full colour menu, highlights, root retouch, gloss and colour correction, is being expanded. If you need one of those before it is formally on the menu, ask us. For a special occasion or an urgent fix we will tell you straight away whether we can take it on, or point you somewhere that can. We would rather turn work away than promise a result your hair can't safely hold.

Between appointments, colour lives or dies on aftercare: a sulphate-free wash, less heat than you think, and a care treatment every few weeks. Ask your stylist to add a treatment to your next cut or blow-dry; it is the cheapest way to keep tone and shine looking salon-fresh.
